Well, I've put this off for years. It's crazy how badly you can want something, yet never seem to do it. Human nature at it's finest.

It's actually funny, because in my case, I've always known what I wanted to to do, what i wanted to be, but it was the simple act of 'doing it' that was the impossible part. I was lucky enough to know exactly what I wanted to be when I was 5 years old, and that vision hasn't really changed that much. I still want to be fashion designer, I guess you could say that I AM a fashion designer.

My main point of this blog is to share my passions with you in a way that is raw and true to myself. No censoring, no beating around the bush. I want this to be a place that truly reflects me, and my opinions, sans filter.

For my first blog post I felt inclined to tell you some facts about me, but I thought it would be fun to switch it around. So here's 7 Things You Didn't Know About Me.

I am completely obsessed with any TV show or movie set in the 'olden days.' Kings, Queens, Lord and Ladies, horses and buggies and everything in between. The dresses, the hats, the hooded capes! Not to mention all the jewels. I've basically watched all of the TV shows and movies that I can find online, so I just started watching everything all over but in the order of succession to the English throne. I just finished season 2 of The Tudors, I just love the story of King Henry VIII and his 6 wives! Blows my mind!

Anyone who's seen my apartment or my closet knows this about me, maybe it goes along with being a seamstress or the years working as a fashion merchandiser, but I am obsessed with organizing. Everything needs to have its own little home. Now, whether everything stays in it's home or find it's way back to that home is a completely different story. Either way, the item has a home. I get so much joy looking at something that has been freshly organized. Also, I have been on a never-ending journey to de-clutter my home, and live more minimally, and being a good organizer is a big part of that.

I was raised on one of the biggest pork farms in south-eastern Ontario, and spent my days either frolicking in the corn fields, or learning to sew in my Aunt's fashion studio right next door. I'd say it was a pretty equal balance, between playing in the mud and dressing up in fancy silk scarves. It was definitely the perfect upbringing though, and if one day have a family I hope to be able to give my children just that, forests and fields and lots of mud to play in.

Being that I'm a non-believer, it might surprise you that I was also raised in the Christian church. I went to a very large church, one with a full electric band and a huge projector showing the lyrics so everyone could sing along. I was one of the lead singers in the youth band, and also worked in the baby nursery during the sermon. I even spent 7 years going to church camp in northern Ontario where, ironically, I smoked weed for the first time. Haha!

Although not currently active, I have a whole other Etsy shop where I sell planners. Digital PDF downloads that I have designed on my computer, for example, to-do lists, meal trackers, monthly calendars etc. I design all sorts of planner sets, like wedding planners and student planners, to help people plan and organize their lives and ultimately, be more efficient. My favourite thing about this shop is that when someone places an order, I don't actually have to do anything, the file gets downloaded by the buyer and thats that. Passive income at its finest! I am aiming to reactivate the shop this month, and release a new planner kit every few weeks, I will be sure to post about it here so you can check it out!

I've had asthma my entire life, which for me means hospital visits every year, and puffers galore. I've had two flare-ups with arthritis, one was when I was 23 and my whole body crippled up, barely being able to walk or hold a pencil. The second time was just recently, 7 years later, which I blame on living in a damp cold basement. Regardless, I firmly believe that both conditions are curable. I started my health journey 5 years ago and I ain't looking back, as both conditions have drastically improved by making changes to my diet.

My closest friends know this about me, and it's definitely something that I'd like to do some videos on. I am hooked on tracking and measuring everything in my life. Expenses, lists, daily habits, chores, everything gets tracked in this little Moleskine book I carry around. I use the Bullet Journal as my main system, but I have modified it quite a bit. I think tracking your rituals and successes is an integral part of self-development, it really helps you build an awareness of your own behaviour so you can be more honest with yourself. Besides, if you don't have your goals written down, do you even know what you are working on? Are you even improving or accomplishing anything? The first step towards manifesting your dreams is writing them down!

Well that pretty much sums it up for today, if you made it through this entire post I applaud you, and thanks for checking it out. Leave some comments down below and tell me your thoughts. Did any of these things surprise you?
